Every man who has ever dated (and that means every guy out there) thinks he is a dating expert and a lot of them have written books on how to be a dating success. Many of these books may contain useful information, but before you even think of starting on them, there are a few basic dating tips for men that can get you started in the right way. Lets start with one of the most basic of all dating tips for men- you cannot generalize about women; each woman is different and each woman needs to be treated as an individual. No theory of how to date women can ever be more than a general guideline and how things work out depends on how the two people involved relate to one another.
We live in an age of equality but that does not mean that you can treat your date like a buddy – women love good manners and the more you display, the more she will respect you. Any date has to be a 50:50 affair if it is to work out – let her talk about herself as much as you talk about yourself. Show interest in what interests her – while having compatible tastes is great, do not expect everything that interests her to interest you; if that is what you expect, you’ll be better off dating a clone of yourself. If she’s interested in things you know nothing about – be honest about it and ask her to tell you more – pretending to be an expert where you are not will expose you as a fraud.
Fighting traffic can be difficult but if you are late for a date, she will think that it is because she is not important to you and if that happens, you will stop being important to her. Take her flowers – that old fashioned gesture still has value and is a way of showing her that you are interested. Women love men with a sense of humor so do your best to make your date laugh and smile – but be careful of jokes that may offend her until you get to know her tastes well. Many guys try to impress women by talking about their jobs – that’s a big no no; just tell her what you do and stop there. If she asks you for details of what you do for a living, reply to what she asks but do not go overboard – she may just be trying to be polite and overdoing the job talk could bore her.
The most important of all dating tips for men is to treat her like a person and not an object of your desire.
